Google Enhanced Conversions Explained

Enhanced conversions use first-party customer information from conversion events to improve matching with Google ad interactions.

Where it fits

The feature is designed to supplement standard conversion tracking when browser identifiers are incomplete. It does not replace the need for correctly defined conversion actions.

Data handling

Implementations can use hashed first-party customer data under Google’s requirements. Consent, privacy notices and data collection practices need to match the real deployment.

Validation

Check that data fields are formatted correctly, conversion values are accurate and duplicate events are not being created. Monitor diagnostic tools after launch.

Reporting differences remain

Even with stronger matching, Google Ads may still report conversions differently from independent systems because attribution and modeling rules differ.
