Funnel Metrics: What to Track at Each Stage
Funnel measurement breaks one final conversion into intermediate steps so you can see where performance changes.
Top of funnel
Common signals include impressions, clicks, landing-page views and engaged visits. These metrics help diagnose traffic quality and message match.
Middle of funnel
Lead starts, completed forms, booked calls, demos or trial activations show whether visitors progress toward a business outcome.
Bottom of funnel
Qualified opportunities, purchases, approved sales and revenue reveal whether earlier activity produces economic value.
Use step conversion rates
Measure each transition separately. A falling purchase rate may actually begin with weaker lead quality several steps earlier.
Preserve identifiers
The more systems the funnel crosses, the more important consistent IDs become. A CRM outcome is most useful when it can be linked back to the original campaign or click.
