How to Track Affiliate Conversions

Affiliate conversion tracking closes the loop between the outbound click and the merchant or network outcome.

Postback tracking

Server-to-server postbacks can send conversion data back to the tracker using a click or sub-ID. They are useful because they do not depend on the purchaser’s browser loading a tracking pixel.

Pixel tracking

Conversion pixels can work when the network or merchant allows code on a confirmation page. Browser restrictions and page-loading conditions can affect reliability.

API and imports

APIs or scheduled imports can provide richer conversion values and statuses. They require stable identifiers so each sale can be matched back to the original click.

Test end to end

Run a real or sandbox conversion when possible. Confirm the click ID, campaign, payout, timestamp and conversion status arrive correctly before buying meaningful traffic.
